Pump-Probe Elastography (PPE) - influence of the pump-pulse energy on the speed of acoustic waves in fluid and solid media

In recent years pump-probe microscopy has been used in several studies to investigate laser-material interaction processes. Thereby, acoustic waves could be imaged that were released into the vicinity of the irradiated spot. The question arouse how the pump-probe elastography can extract the information that the waves carry. The aim of Felix Wägers study was to investigate the influence of the pump-pulse energy on the speed and shape of acoustic waves in solid and fluid media.

The paper was created in collaboration with FH Vorarlberg (University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg) and was presented at this years Photonics West and BiOS. To see the full presentation on Youtube, please click here.
